Playaways

We have added Playaways to our LMC collection. A playaway is a preloaded audio book in MP3 format.  Playaways are a great way to encourage reading! They are excellent for struggling readers, kids on the go, or just as a different way to enjoy a great book!

Character Education

Mrs. McBrearty and I have kicked off our character education program for the month of October! Members of the school staff have been given blank construction paper hands to complete when a student demonstrates the monthly character trait. This month we are learning about responsibility. We have already received many helping hands sharing how CCS students demonstrated responsibility inside and outside of their classrooms. We are filling our bucket to share at the next Friday Finale.

Our new computer lab!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. We have a new computer lab in the Library Media Center. It features 24 wireless internet accessible computers. This means we enough computers for an entire class here at CCS elementary. The opportunities to utilize the lab are endless. We are looking forward to discovering the wonders in our garden of learning.

Stolen Children

Wow! I cannot put this book down! Now I understand why students all across New York State chose this book as the Charlotte Award winner. It is full of action and suspense. Amy, the babysitter, was brave and smart because she designed clues to her and Kendra's location in the videos! She had to be very clever to do it without getting caught. As you read this story Amy becomes very easy to identify with as a main character. I found myself not only rooting for her and Kendra's safe return to their families, but also hoping that she would open up to her mother abut the events prior to her father's death. This book is an enjoyable read for children and adults!
